It's Pink Friday at Make Mine Pink!

It's Pink Friday at Cozy Cottage and the other participating boutiques at Make Mine Pink, and I hope you will join us for a day of holiday shopping once again.

I also just listed several things in the "New Items" category on my website including these beautiful depression era sherbets.

BIG NEWS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER........

Watch for an upcoming post, or better yet subscribe to my newsletter (the link is on the homepage of my website). I will be announcing a special Make Mine Pink Holiday Catalog and it is going to be just full of beautiful holiday decor and gift items!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK........

This recipe comes from one of my favorite cookbooks, "Recipes from the backs of boxes, bottles, cans and jars." It is the recipe that Quaker Oats printed on their packages in 1955....these cookies are my favorite oatmeal cookies. They are crunchy but still chewy!

Famous Oatmeal Cookies

3/4 cup of softened shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups uncooked Quaker oats

Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Sift together flour, salt, and soda; add to creamed mixture; blend. Stir in oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 350* oven for 12-15 minutes. Makes 5 dozen cookies.

Note: I have also added walnuts and/or raisins to these cookies.

ABOUT THAT SNOWMAN......

Okay, I'm sure you noticed my cute little snowman in the cookies picture. He just arrived at my house straight from Carolyn at The Odd Sparrow. Her web-shop is just full of lovely items that I always try to resist, but I just had to have Mr. Snowman. Thanks Carolyn!
